OK, got it done. It took me about 2 hours because I'm so **** I had to clean everything I took off and put on. Looks very good to me especially for the amount I paid. As stated before the cone could have fit a little cleaner. Here's a couple of pics.
So, I'm thinking about about pulling trigger on one of these bad boys but I got a few questions.
First, is this the part that everyone is talking about? (My bike is not fuel injected)
Harley Davidson S&S Carburetor Spike Air Cleaner Intake Filterhttp://www.d2moto.com/Harley-S-S-Car...003-chrome.htm
Second, Is there any change in the sound? I'm kinda hoping that more airflow makes it sound a little deeper, louder, etc.
Last, Does anyone know if they work on any HD model? I have a 2002 FXSTS (Springer) and have learned the hard way that somethings just don't fit on a Springer.

hdspringer02, Yea, that's the one you need. I really have not been able to ride the bike yet due to the rain. I have an EFI bike and already had a power commander and high flow ac so probably won't see much difference. This model should fit your set up. If you want it you can use this coupon, but you have to use it before midnight Dec.10th, 72HR30.

I bought this one for my '06 carb'd bike and ended up sending it back and ordering the one for the fuel injection bikes. They said it wouldn't fit, but it fit pretty good (had to crank down on the breather bolts to get it to tighten up). With the version above, you'll need to buy a separate breather kit. Plus, with the kit above, all the weight hangs off the carb. With the fuel injection kit, the mounting bracket which attaches to the engine supports the weight of the air cleaner. Put mine on a couple of weeks ago, but it's too cold and wet for a test ride. I'm a little nervous about the spike however. It attaches with two tiny set screws. One of my screws was not machined perpendicular to the body so it doesn't get a full bite when screwed down. My spike actually fell off while the bike was idling. I'm going to try to come up with some sort of hidden lanyard in case if falls off when I'm at speed.
This is what the carb'd version looks like. The unit is supported off the carb and your own your own to address the breathers.
Here's the FI unit on my bike. Looks the same as the other photos posted here. Yea I know, doesn't really fit with the "Deluxe" look.
I ended up canceling my order for the spike intake. Doesn't that gap between the spike and the elbow defeat the entire purpose of an air cleaner? That gap is going to suck dirt and contaminents right into the carb. Did you have the same **** 20fxst06? I am considering ordering this setup, but the FI version for my carb bike.

Rick, I don't really think any dirt will get into the carb. Before I did the install, I assembled the spike to the intake and didn't see any space for the dirt to get in. I did however use a rubber o ring I got at Home Depot (plumbing dept.) to close up the gap. Go for it!! It'll look great.

What size O ring was that? That sounds like the way to go especially if it is configured where you can not see it from the outside.
Also has anyone found a rain cover for the spiked filters? and finally, please update the code if you have a new one. I need a discount.
