The TTS manual talks about that. It cautions on dropping the idle below 900 rpms. I think mine is set at 984 at running temperature and incrementally higher for cooler temps.
Do you happen to know the stock redline figure? The TTS map I put in is set at 6200 and I'm pretty sure that's higher than stock but not sure.
On my TC88, the stock filter will flow all the air the engine needs with my SE pipes (baffles drilled out). All I did was cut another opening on the backside of my filter box to match the front one. The bike started stutter when I would slowly accelerate ~ 1/4 throttle. I ended up giving it 1/2 turn on the enrichment screw and she runs like a top again. I'm quite certain that a K&N flows more total CFM than a stock filter, but I think an opened up stock air box with a stock filter will flow more than enough air for a stage 1 on an 88. Probably on a 96" also.

The stock ECM rev limiter is set to 6200 for "B" (Softail) engines. But I reset the limiter on my TMax to 5500.
it just doesn't make any sense to me to flog the engine at rpm's higher than that when it pulls harder if I keep the rpm's below that level.
True. I've never hit the rev limiter because I can feel the power dropping off before I hit the limit. For me I guess it's there in case I snap a belt. Then the rev limiter would be most appreciated.
I loaded another map (AF176), edited the displacement down to 1584 and took it for a ride. Very nice consistent power but I think my mileage is going to be pretty bad. At least according to the r mileage. Normally after a fill it reads anywhere from 191 - 210 miles. This time it only read 175. That's only 35mpg if it's true.
Temperature today was 86 and after a good 45 minute ride the oil temp was 222. That's a 20 degree drop from what the bike normally runs at. Now that's a considerable drop.
Hopefully mileage will be reasonable and my r reading is a fluke.
