Will it be of any consequence changing the short plug wire to one equal in length to the front one? I am in the process of moving my coil to where my horn is and equal cable length would really clean it up?
Well at this point I have removed the coil, coil support (the bar in front of the oil tank, and horn.
My next step is to lengthen the delphi plug wires about 8" no big deal, then I am going to make a simple little flat sheet metal bracket to hook the coil and cover where the horn was.
I then need to lengthen the horn wires (I am mounting the horn to the top bolt where my engine guard meets the frame.)
I think I will be able to just tip the back of my gas tank up a little to run those wires. I will post pics later. But I hope equal plug wire will be an option
From what I've read, the plug length shouldn't matter. Also you don't need to lift the tank to run the wires for the horn. Using a firm wire, "thread" them through the same area all of the other wires go through. Also, I don't know how you are mounting your horn up front, but make sure you don't do it with the cover attached to it. I have a nice big dent in my front fender to remind me of that.
why dont you buy the fat wires from harley in the kit for $20 and then you cut to length.
I add the fat wires and got better mileage and better response. well worth the $20

Actually after searching on here I found a way to mount horn under the tank.

Do you happen to have a part # for this. Is it just 4 ends and some wire you cut?
I've got Magnum Chromite plug wires on mine. You can also get custom length wires from Sumax. They're about 17" each, and I've got the horn mounted on the crossbar at the top of the downtubes. If you search my posts, there's a halfway decent description of my coil & horn relocation.
Unless there is something very wrong with your stock plug wires, there is no performance gain to be achieved by changing them.
