Battery ???
when i did it the bike wouldnt start with the car off........it was only when i started the car the bike started
for an '09 bike, remove battery, go to dealer and make'm replace it with a NEW one under warranty...for 12V battery i think 2 amp charge is best but takes longer...claim ur warranty, 2 weeks should not be enough to drain a good battery...good luk
I heard having the car running may do damage to the battery if you try to jump start it..My bike battery ALWAYS jump started with the car off........
I am not a battery expert (I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night) but I have always heard that you should avoid trying to start a motorcycle with a car battery.
The reason is that too many amps can get to the battery on the bike and damage something, like sending too many amps through the starting wiring and melt some wires.
40 amps of charging is way too much in my opinion (for whatever you think that is worth).
Typical charging is done at something like C/10, or capacity divided by ten. If you have an 18 or 20 amp battery, that means charging at 1.8 or 2.0 amps.
If it were my bike, I would get a motorcycle charger that puts out no more than 1.5 amps or so and let the charger slowly bring the battery up to a full charge. You may not be able to ride it today, but it's better than damaging something on the bike.
I would suggest you consider getting some type of battery maintainer, such as a Battery Tender or one from Schumacher.
Also, the battery should not have gone dead in two weeks unless there is a drain somewhere, the battery is bad, or the charging system is not working correctly.

Thanx guys.. I got it started then rode it and it started right back up NP. At first i put it at 50 amp for about 5-10 min. and the thing wouldn't crank more than 2 rounds. So i unhooked it. Then asked your opinions. Well Blk & Chrme said not to go over 40 amps. So i tried it again on 10 amps left it for about 15 min. and then bike started right up. Thanx all for the quick responses.... This was the first time my bike has ever been dead. If my battery is dead again tomarrow morning then i know something is wrong. I think what may have drained it was i've been messing with my air-ride with the bike turned off. I thiink that big Shotgun compressor drains batteries quick...
Your battery has about 300+ cold cranking amps (cca), for jump starting 40 amps should do it, for charging, I'd use a max of 10, 5 being better 1.5 trickle being best.

I have use an old 4 amp car charger on bike batteries for years.....Try to be patient. If it is a low amp charger, give it a few hours before doing anything.

yeah dude but your american monster truck probably has the battery equill to a small power station.........in europe you need to start the car definatley plus i am impatient and once i put the leads on both car and bike it didnt start so turned the key and bobby bingo of it went
car jump and high charge wont do it. i had to get a new battery and it went dead after a few days because i never got around to the less than 2 amps charge. I did that for 2 days at about 1 amp and now i can leave the light on and it still has charge.
