Default Chrome sprocket questions

Are the teeth on a new Chrome sprocket supposed to be chrome as well. The reason I'm asking I have just purchased a (HD Reaper) chrome sprocket and the chrome plating appears to not cover the teeth completly. And what chrome is on the teeth appears to be like an overun and ii is flakey. I was reading my service manual it it indicated that there should be no loose chrome. Can anyone give me advice?

i would think that any chrome on the teeth of the sprocket wouldn't last too long.

My manual states that chrome finish on teeth should not etch with light pressure of knife tip. My pully did not etch at 5k or 10k, but it is etching at 13k and looks like battered aluminum. According to the manual I need to replace it. It sounds like your new pully has some quality control issues.

So are you saying that the teeth on your pully were fully chromed?
