Default Samson True Duals Heat Question

I finally got my Samson True Duals on my bike....looks awesome...though a bit louder with the mufflers then I thought.

Anyway I was up on the freeway testing her out and when I got off I noticed alot of heat I hadn't noticed before on the right side at the cross over pipe. I have the heat shield there but it's still very warm.

For those of you that have the Samsons do you get the samething? Almost considering some of them heat protectors....

Default RE: Samson True Duals Heat Question

Hi Bluerose, I had the Samson duals on my 05 Deluxe and did suffer from the heat ...no seriously, my bike ran extremely hot and it was dealer tuned and dynoed?? Within several months, they started to turn blue in areas and still continued to get overly hot! Sadly, I ended up selling them on Ebay, and returned to the stock. Glad I did, because I soon traded in (didn't loose much money) and got an 06!
Good Luck~

Default RE: Samson True Duals Heat Question

I was afraid of that the heat was just surprising, it's the way it bends that keps the heat there....definately keeping my old pipes around though my bags will not fit with them on. I have my 1000 mile next week but have already had the Stage 1 done dealer said there should be no change....I'll ask them when I take it in for the grip tomorrow.

Did you have full heat shields to combat the bluing??? The parts guy told me that if I don't have full shields I would get bluing but it seems to have a tight setup on the shields, wondering if they were bluing on you?

I kind of makes sense. The cross over passes behind the rear jug where there is limited airfow. And the air that does get in is already warmed by the jugs. I still have the stock setup on 05 Heritage Classis but I'm looking at the Road House 2 into 1 with the Shark Fin tip and the nostalgic looking head pipe heat shields.
