Dynas are cool short of the wide glide version ride and feel like a smaller bike IMO.

I dig Dynas....But a well sorted Softail with the right amout of lowering and and good fork setup (Shorter tubes) gives you a little bit of that superior handling Dyna feel without sacrificing the legendary Sloptail comfort....

Whilst I havent owned a Dyna I have ridden several and dig them...Its just a different bike. Like Apples are different from plums. One has a seed....

Listen to The band then make your move!

dont they both have seeds?? Damn . . . its too early for that brain bender

My buddy has a street bob and Ive ridden a few others. The most noticeable thing I picked up on was this. I sat on it, started it, then thought that the bike was about to come apart. Riding it down the road under acceleration it was fairly smooth, but as soon as I let throttle off, or stopped at the light, the whole damn thing shakes like a mad man. Softailers are spoiled by a smooth ride, sure mine vibrates a tad when setting still, but his scared the **** outa me. I kept looking down expecting to see a botched rubber, or somethin goin on. Thats just the way dynas are, all about the motor mounts. apples and err plums right? haha. While riding, after deciding that the bike wasnt infact falling apart, it rides well. Feels like your sitting more ON it rather than IN it as my softy does. I agree with Chaz that you can lean on a softy a tad in the right spots and make it a really nice well rounded set up. Not to menchion, if your a big guy, or have passengers, I believe it to be easier on a softy. Mine fits me like a glove . . . 6' 4" 185lbs.

Good luck on your decision bro, hope this helps some

I'll second twisted's comments. A buddy of mine has an 06 dyna and it rattles like crazy. I've got an 08 nightrain and it's a night and day difference in the vibration department. The dyna also felt a touch shorter, but with ape hangers, didn't feel like it turned any better. Both ride good, so I guess which one to go with would be a personal preference decision.

I had an 01 Superglide before getting my NT and to add to what Chaz and Twisted said, which I agree with, the Dyna I had was a better handling bike but the NT is a more comfortable riding bike. I'd prefer to be on a Dyna to run the Dragon's Tail but a well set up Softy or even tourer would be just fine.

Dyna's aren't very good for 2 up riding. Once the right shocks and front springs are set up right on either one you are gonna have fun.

In a perfect stable there will be a Dyna, Softail, and Tourer. Sporty's can substitute the Dyna if preferred IMHO or be added.

My friend has an 08 StreetGlide that is also rubber mounted (like the Dynas) and at idle, the grips, engine and overall bike shake quite a bit. Softails are counter-balanced so there is literally almost no vibration at all. I actually wish my Heritage had a little but the counterbalancing works so darn well. Dynas are great for twisties but maybe not so much for things like 2 up riding. Thats why you gotta have one of each!!!

I may be a little dimwitted but this has got me confused as all getout.

What the fvck does "take a load off grannie" have to do with dyna vs. softail?

If nobody gets the answer correct, are you gonna tell us?-**

I thought about that too, even looked at the lyrics spelled out to try and deduce the meaning. Its Fannie who has the load. The song is about a traveler who arrives in Nazareth and has encounters with its residents. And the only thing I could come up with, if you forget what the lyrics mean, is that Take a load off, put it on me could relate to a softy riding with a dyna. Where the dyna couldnt haul it, the softy offered to ride with it. Thats all I got - am I close Chaz?? whats the prize!?
