Great Deal on Softail
Mike I'm sure you are a stand up solid guy but your post is weaker than carnival lemonade....
That whole "I'll do my best to get you the best deal around" is the typical big retail car store sounding classic "Bring Your Title, Bring your Wife & We'll Dicker".
Why not get aggressive like the guys who dont have all those 2009's sitting on the showroom?
Aggressive would be something more like...
Blow-Out pricing on Leftover 09's...(Not your 2010 is right around the corner story..Fvck they are straight-up leftovers dude. 2010 have been for how long now? We need the space? This is a savvy group Brother. Save story time for your lil' uns at the house!)
OK So then the next line would look like this...
2009 Night Train Was $XX,XXX Now $XX,XXX 3 remaining. All black.
2009 Heritage Was $XX,XXX Now $XX,XXX 7 left good color choice.
2009 Street Glides Were $XX,XXX Now blowing em out at $XX,XXX Lots of colors, lots of options, Waiving dealer prep fee's, uber cheap financing deals, delivery available let us ship you a bike...Yada, Yada, Yada...
The days of secret squirrel back room negotiations and 2 year waits on Harleys is over Bro.
Sling that iron like you want it gone.
When you are scared to post or advertise a price out in public without a secret personal call or desking your customer you are either still trying to make more gross than you should or you are simply scared of being beat by the guy up the road. Dont be scared. Beat the guy up the road and move on to making your big grossing deals on your 2010's!!
Print this post and take it to your sales mgr...Tell him its time to rock them leftovers off the floor. Tell him the old style games of yore are dead. Tell him thats why you have all those 09's. How many deals have you lost in the last two months with the old school dated approach?? Tons.
Just some friendly advice from a guy with way too many years in the Auto Biz.

I cant call the guy a tool as evidently he rides and owns a cool 883 Iron and rocks the Biltwell stuff....
But outta 8 posts to his name 6 are this same thread placed in every model section of the forum. My guess is that Mike is a good young dude who thought selling bikes would be fun and profitable and is now realizing how tough the sales game can be especially in these trying economic times.
Its also my guess that Mikes sales Mgr wont typically give anyone a solid price who isnt sitting at the desk.
Thats a sure sign of a guy with a sales mentality stuck in the late 90's. No wonder they have so many 09's leftover...They treat then like fvcking collectors items!!
