Default Plug laying against crossover

I found this plug seen easily from the right side behind and below the oil tank tonight. It has a weatherproof cap over it. It was laying up against the crossover and started to melt the cap. I have never seen it before and was wondering if it fell down from where is was attached or has it always been there. Anybody know what it is for and if where I found it is where it should go? I know it shouldn't be laying against the crossover for obvious reasons but I could wire tie it so it stays away from the crossover. I am attaching a picture. Thanks!

I plug my battery tender into mine, very convienient. I think you can also plug heated clothing, etc. into it.

That looks like my battery tender, so I would agree with Chucky.

Agree with chucky, I have mine comming out on the other side of the bike so that it does not hit the exhaust.

Thanks everybody! Nothing in the Owners manual, first Harley. I ride it enough not to need one but that plug will be nice this winter when there may be a long time between rides.

Yep that's what it is-- the connection for the battery tender, not sure if you use it for heated clothing...does not come stock on the bike so not in the manual...most dealers add them to the bikes.
All my bikes have them...I plug them in when I'm not going to ride them for a bit....
