I was told that I can go to a 18 inch set up on my 06 Fatboy. 18x3.50 in front and 18x4.25 in rear. With low profile tires. My question is do I need to do any modifications whatsoever by going this size. Calipers, rotors or pulley replacement? Was told this would fit directly on with no mods at all. Just want to ask you all for any input on this before I do go and purchase. Thanks for your time ...Ray
Make sure the wiring to the rear of the bike is tucked on nicely so the wider tire does not snag it and fray the wiring. Should bolt right up otherwise.
Mines an 08 so a lil different, but I went with an 18x5.5 in the rear and a 19x3 in the front. Only thing that should be different is the width of the rear. But either way, what you listed should fit fine.

No modifications required. I'm having difficulties posting images of the bike from my Gallery, but check within my Gallery.
I changed everything over last January. RC Components 'Calypso' wheels w/ matching belt pulley, rotors and H/D chrome (domed) spacers. Figured it was time to dump the stock Dunlop's (only 3500 miles on them). Replaced with Metzeler 880 tires. Same measurements as you described. Absolutely no issues with fender clearances, belt alignment, speedo accuracy, brakes, etc. These tires/wheels transformed an already great handling bike into a dream machine.
So whether the rear wheel is a 3.5" or 4.25", do you mount the same width tire size? Didnt think anything wider than a 160 Metz would fit an 06? Does a wider wheel give a wider profile look to the tire but the actual tire width remains the same, so no fender clearance concerns?

Same width, YES! You are just changing the inner diameter. 160mm would be the max w/o clearance issues.
