Both bikes will perform equally as well with the right set up...ie, seat, suspension, handlebars etc. I can tell you from experience you can most definitely "tour" for hundreds and hundreds of miles on a Heritage. I think you have to demo (at the very least sit on both) to see. I'm sure you've heard this before but I've ridden both and its very true. The Heritage feels as though you sit "in". Conversly, I certainly feel like I'm sitting more "on" the Road King. (both bikes...stock set up) I'm 5'7" and although I like both bikes equally, the Heritage was a much better fit for me.

I love the Heritage.I have a dyna (for some more weeks) though.
Because:Take of the saddlebags and the windshield and you got A lean-mean Softail.
But the RK has a double disk With an ABS... ... ...
ADJUSTABLE suspensions.Propably this tells nothing to you but for me,and i am from Greece-Queen of shity highways, is owesome!
I just think that RK offers more with the same price.
BUT the feeling is the best judge for me!
Try both!!

agree with above. if most of your miles are local the heritage is most likely a beter fit , but 2-up touring the RK does a far beter job . i have taken missus and me on the heritage for a weeka ta time .. and whilst it was fine , there have been plenty of roads where i wished i had an RK for its ability to handle heavier loads. Actually now thinkin of getting a 2nd hand beemer for the touring that i do , and the heritge kept for the smaller runs.
