Unhappy How Do I get It Off??

Was out riding my '06 Fatboy yesterday. Temp was 50 deg. Had the leathers on. On the way home I kept smelling a smell like a candle was burning. When I got home I discovered that my oil fill plug had gotten pulled part way out. The smell that I was experiencing was from some oil hitting my exhaust pipes. Some of the oil burnt onto the pipes. Any suggestions how to get the burnt oil off the pipes without messing up the chrome finish on the pipes??? Thanks!

Try Mr Clean Magic Eraser. It works magic on everything I've tried it on. Once had something burned on my pipes and after using everything I had a discoloration remained.

I figured whatever it was was permanently burned into the chrome and was ready to give up. Tried the Magic Eraser and just like magic the pipes were like new again.

+1 to Mr. Clean Magic Eraser... it's not abrasive, yet highly effective.

Give this a shot, its a ceramic cook top cleaner, I used it to get melted plastic bag of my toaster and it work slick...you could also try tooth paste

a few days ago their was a thread about using a copper penny...dont remember to much about it although why not try Flitz or MAAS chrome cleaners?

Easy off oven cleaner, the cold version, works great. I use it all the time, spray it on at night and in the morning wipe it off, it does not damage the chrome.

Sorry, I thought this was a sex post. Just stopped in to offer some suggestions.

Whatever, Brass or bronze wool will help cut through the crusty stuff first (now I'm talking about the burnt on stuff, not sex).

Eagle Brand Neverdull. It's wonderful on chrome/aluminum or whatever. It's a cotton like material with very small amounts of steel wool mixed in. I've been in the Navy for 10 years and this is what we use on the ship to polish all the "Bright Works" and I've found a commercial brand from Eagle at Autozone and probably at may other places. That **** is awesome!

I recommend spraying the easy off on a rag away from the bike and then on warm pipes. It will come right off. had the same thing happen in the past.
