Default Speedo conversion

I have a custom 93 Fatboy with a 1340cc EVO motor. At present it has a after market mechanical speedo which is not accurate and I don't like the look of the speedo cable going to the front wheel.

What I would like to do is convert the speedo drive to a electronic one and replace the existing speedo with one from Dakota Digital.

Has anyone done this and is this a difficult job?

One additional point, my bike has a custom loom so I guess it may not be a straight forward job

Thanks I've only owned it a short while and now want to make it my own with a few changes.

Can't wait to get back out and ride it (i'm in the UK and its kept in Florida), roll on March when taking it to Daytona then down to the Keys

Hi i have a 92 fatboy and i moved the mechanical speedo to the back wheel.was easy to do and gets rid of the ugly speedo cable from the front.IF you want to go dakota digital i think they sell a electronic sensor that goes to the rear wheel that connects to the dakota digital

The 1995 and up speedos run off the tranny. So no need for the speedo cable to front wheel.

Thanks Harley7316, I will look into using the rear wheel sensor, looks the best/easiest way to go. Just need to check out my existing Speedo now and hope its not a strange size.
