Exclamation Longer cables??? Please Help!

Alright, I have set my Burly apes in the risers in preparation for switching them over. They are 14" narrows. My bike originally had what I believe to be about 4" pull back risers and buckhorns. The Buckhorns were traded out for a set of 10" mini apes. Now, I have done away with the stock risers and got a set of 1.5" risers. The bars or 14's. So that makes my new total around an inch and some change taller. The difference being that the apes were more set back with the 10s than they are with the 14s. Just setting them up in the risers, I know immediately that I will be needing a brake line. I have a hard line that runs down, goes through a 4 inch soft line, then back to hard. Can I just get a longer braided one to make up this difference between the neck and my bars or do I need to keep running down from there?? I pulled my throttle up to see if it would reach and it seems to be a little tight for my liking. I have heard about guys losing the idler line, if I heard them right. If that's correct, why doesn't this effect the performance? My clutch looks like it will be long enough, and I already know Ill have to lengthen the wires going to my controls. I guess the real question is - - - can someone direct me to some nice cables?? I have heard that nice aftermarket throttle controls feel like night and day. I'm trying to do all of this on the cheap, I wasn't really expecting to have to replace this stuff. Any input is REALLLLY appreciated. My bike being down is killin me!!

Call these guys and let them know exactly what you need and they will take care of you. They make a set of stock style replacement cables that are pretty cheap.

http://www.hillcountrycustomcycles.com/

But first make sure you can't reroute your existing cables/lines.

I found some universal extensions from Hill Country Customs in a bunch of different lengths. I wonder if I could just get a braided one to replace the lines that are up against my bars coming from the stock fitting and run it down to the trees where the other fitting is. The price is WAY lower for this. Might only need 18 inches or so to make it up. Anyone have any thoughts on this???

NO DON'T DO THAT... I would think it's there for a reason... Don't gamble with your life over a cable brother. M

I got my brake line from a friend but it's a one piece soft line with a banjo elbow fittings at each end a 45* and a 90* I think... It looks very clean. The dealer carry the ends so I'm betting they have the lines also.

I called Hill Country Customs today. They say I need a 50" brake line, and a 38" throttle and idle. about 40 bucks a piece. dammit. Looks like she'll be laid up a little longer than expected. Ill hold onto the idle cable - thanks Story. Ill call the dealer and ask what kind of alternatives they may have for me.

What I was trying to say - both Hill Country and M & M Cycles were great to deal with in my recent update. 13" apes - 1.5" Wild One risers and Magnum Chromite Sterling cables. +6 over stock cables. Perfect fit.
Good Luck.
