Default need help with lowering bolts

Ok. Sorry if this info is somewhere on the forum..I've been looking but can't find the exact answer.

I want to lower my night train, so i purchased the 2" lowering bolts off ebay for $20. They are going to be used to lower the existing rear suspension.

Do I simply unscrew the existing bolts in the shocks and screw these ones in? Do I have to compress the shock?

I have two jacks and am capable of doing this, but if I have to get into actually removing the shock and compressing and all that...that's a little more than I really want to do.

Thanks for any help guys.

not a simple task nor a major ball buster. Depends on your skill level and available tools. The biggy here is compressing your shocks. To simplify my instructions, i'll refer you to "fatbillscustoms.com". He has a step by step and if you follow instructions you can get it done. Otherwise, a couple hours labor at the hd shop. Indy would be cheaper i'm sure. So have at...

I've seen the fatbillscustoms.com link referenced in many posts, however I can't get that site to load. My issue with removing the shocks and compressing them is that I would have to remove the rear tire to remove them..as far as I can tell. And if I have to remove the entire shock assemblies then and get into compressing them and all that...is it worth it to just pay the dealer $150 to do it? Then if I do that..why not just wait till I can afford Progressive 422's and swap those in instead?

Man...

You don't have to take the rear tire off jack your bike up have a 4X4 or some thing to put under rear tire. You will have to play with it to get it out and back in ,take the blot out of the back of the shock and nuts off the front should come right out. A press will be needed to get clips out be careful shocks don't fly out under pressure 1- 2 hrs with help not that hard

I may just remove the suspension myself and bring it in to the stealer. They quoted me $75 if I just bring in the shocks, or $150 if they have to do everything.

I don't feel comfortable messing around with compressing the shock and all that. Wish I could afford the progressives cause then I'd just swap em out.
