Default How do I remove rubber riser bushings???

Guys...I'm doing the install on a set of HCC 16" WO Chubbys on my Heritage and am at the point where I need to remove the original rubber riser bushings to replace with poly riser bushings from HD. Has anyone changed these out??? What do I need to do apart from beating the **** out of them? Also, how would you recommend putting the new ones in?

The bushings are 2-piece, split in the middle. Once you have the risers and riser bolts out, just stick a screwdriver in there and pound them out. Put the new ones in with silicone grease and a rubber mallet. It's easy.

Thanks Lucky...didn't want to start banging on them until I had a second opinion.

Just one point of clarification, in case I wasn't clear. Wedge the screwdriver into the split, and then tap it out with a hammer (e.g., for the bottom one , go in from the top and push it out the bottom of the tree). DON'T attempt to pivot them out with the screwdriver alone or you will likely ding the edge of the hole in the triple tree.

I'm surprised you guys had to use a hammer on them. I just stuck the bolt in a little way and pulled them out with the bolt tilted to one side a little to grip them. Took all of about 15 seconds to get all 4 pieces out.
The new poly ones slipped in almost all the way by hand and tightening the bolt pulled them in the rest of the way with no issues.
