Didn't you think, for second, when you were putting it on, hey this this is going to rub the paint(powdercoat) off? What did you think was going to happen, you could pull it off and the swingarm would look new, after having something rub on it for how ever long?
You really have to use a little critical thinking before you hang a bag off the side of your swingarm.
Sorry about being rude, but you made a post saying, DUH my paint rubbed off.
Anyway, I think it is powdercoated, for it to look right, you are going repowdercoated the complete swingarm. It sounds like a good time to buy a chrome swingarm, if you like chrome.

1st of all I never said Duh my paint rubbed off. The bag was only on there for about 2 months. Next time you want to post something helpful that would be nice, otherwise, keep your "observations" to yourself.

You absolutely posted a duh, I am a dumb-***, and some how it is the bags fault for rubbing the paint off.

At least say, I am a dumb-*** and hung a bag off my swingarm, and did not realize it would rub the paint off, what a Gomer I am.

You did not warn people about the dangers of swingarm bags and your paint. You asked people say "Here's Your Sign."

I did the same with a bag a local leatherman made for me. used three spacers and some binding bolts. what you dont see is a piece of sheet metal that has a bottom shelf thing on it...side profile looks like an "L" so it gives support to the bottome of the bag. This mount doesnt intefere with paint or chrome and works great. You can buy all these items at Lowes and use some normal tools to git it dun.

Side view of the bag:

Top down look at the spacers that seperate the bag and keeps it from rubbing:

If you want anymore specifics on building it just PM me.

homerandpooh, I did the same thing on my Deuce. I've been in the automotive business for 25 years and built numerous show vehicles, and I never though that bag would wear the powdercoat off, live and learn. But, then again, we can't all be as smart as tlb, he obviously knows all and is the smartest most perfect person on the planet, or so he thinks. Personally, I think he's the dumb-*** with a huge dose of keyboard bravery and posted the perfect sign for himself.

My mechanic called me this morning and told me that after taking the swingarm bag off that he noticed it had rubbed the paint off of the swingarm.

Who cares? Leave your bag on you wont see it. Beside, Gloss Black rattle can matches frame perfect.
