On your numerous show vehicles, do you lean against them and rub your *** all over the paint? No, why because it would rub the paint. How hard is it to figure out?
You, nor he, are smart enough to figure out what I was saying, it is more important that he learned to think about the result of his actions next time, instead of figuring it out afterwards. The first step is taking ownership of the mistake.
All you did is say it is ok that you are a dumb-*** because I am a dumb-*** too. Therefore, TLB always knows he is smarter than two guys on this board.
Actually, you read threads on here all the time about swingarm bags. Sometimes guys give warnings about not mounting them straight to the swingarm and others do not. I constantly read them and think, man somebody is going to be pissed when they take it off.
The potential problems that result from doing something that looks cool, can be costly in the pocket book. However, financial costs are temporary, embarrassment lasts a life time, which was my point. I guess you are not smart enough to understand how people learn.
By the way, I talk to people, daily, the exact same way, when they make a dumb-*** move. I do not need a keyboard to be brave.

Personally, I think he's the dumb-*** with a huge dose of keyboard bravery and posted the perfect sign for himself.

Happens always, wrap electric tape around the swing arm where it is hanging.

Exactly right, if you have ever worked in a machine shop you would have found out about that when dealing with diamond dust on grinding wheels or surface plates. If you ever worked on machines that used sinthered bronze bearings on hardened and tool steel shafts, you would also see it.
Any abrasive material that gets between two different materials will embed itself into the softer of the two and act like a grinding compound on the harder.
Water just makes the problem worse because it acts as a lubricant. So you get a bit of road dirt and or grim on there, it gets between the leather and the steel swing arm bar, and goes to town grinding the powder coating off it on you.
Get it wet and it just does it faster.

You're harley is ruined beyond repair. Just put the bag back on and sell it "as is." And don't tell the prospective buyer about the ruined part. Take the small amount of money you might get for your wrecked harley and apply it to a down payment on a new machine. Then never ever put a scratch or mark on the new ride or else you'll need to go through the same process again. Don't put parts on the new bike that aren't "Harley" approved add-ons. That should solve all your problems.

Who cares? Leave your bag on you wont see it. Beside, Gloss Black rattle can matches frame perfect.
+1 I have a swingarm bag wearing the powdercoat on my bike too. I'm not losing sleep about it. I knew it would mark up the swingarm when I put it on.
