03 Heritage Classic, Anniversary Edition
Have a friend with an 03 Heritage, Anniversary Blue, with 35,000 miles. It was thought that the cam chain tensioners were bad. Friend does not have the funds, so 6 of us bought new tensioners & cam gasket set and told him happy birthday. We tore it down and found inner tensioner toast, outer oil pump gearotor good, did not check inner. Today we installed tensioners, cam outer bearings, had cam plate reassembled and I pulled the oil pump and the inner gearotor. Found inner oil pump gearotor chewed up, and pieces of a ball bearing retainer inside of the oil pump coming from the crank side. Found metal in the oil tank with a magnet and metal in the oil filter. Project at a standstill - friend has no money.
Motor will have to totally disassembled and rebuilt, or a factory reconditioned one, or a used engine. Does anyone have a guesstimate of what this bike is worth as it sit's right now?
