Moisture in your speedometer - the truth revealed?
So if any of you recall this ongoing saga, it turns out that I had three simultaneous electrical problems with my '06 Nightrain... difficult to solve to say the least.
So after replacing my speedometer (one of the three issues) I decided to tear apart my old speedo to see if all of the falderall about moisture in the speedo should be of any concern.
What I found was that the speedo is entirely a circuit board with a stepper motor for the dial indicator. Everything is sealed to the max, including the coating of the circuit board and gluing/sealing of the various components to the face plate. This wasn't easy to dissasemble, which I did with great care, in case I would ever want to put it back together again.
My opinion is that the moisture in your speedo won't hurt anything.
Also, if your speedo quits working properly, it is junk. Belly up to the HD parts counter and fork over the bucks... ouch!
I hope for all your sake this is a rare occurance.
Thanks brother, I wish it was my original art... I just copied that from the screen, that is from a real artist... Drawing relaxes me, I've dircovered that I'm not that bad at it...
