Hello everyone. I am trying to make a final decision on new pipes for my 06 Deluxe. Just not happy with the Scream'n Eagles. After a lot of researching on this forum, Rush slip-ons seem to be one of the favorites. But, I thought I would Just ask "only" the Deluxe owners what pipes you have and are you happy with them? If not, why, and how would you change them? I am after a deeper sound, but not overwhelmingly loud. Right now I am contemplating the Rush either 1.75" or 2" baffles. Also, anyone done any cam work to their Deluxe? I am told this will affect the sound as well. What would I be looking at for that cost (probably at HD) since I am not mechanically inclined. In a nutshell, deeper sound, hopefully a little slower idle. I know I've posted before, but wanted to poll you Deluxe people since I'm close to pulling the trigger on this. Thanks, Mark
I had the Rush Slip-ons and was very happy with the sound. I decided I wanted the performance to go with the sound so I switched to the V&H True Duels and am very pleased. You can go to YouTube and find a video featuring many of the pipes and get a very rough feel for sound and pitch.
BTW: My Rush Slip-ons are for sale (slightly used) 2" slash cut.
Remember the shorter the pipe the louder it is to the driver. But it does not mean louder to the guy standing on the side of the road when you drive by. I just have slip on mufflers and they sound decent, however I am looking into Chrome Big Shots Staggered. With the Straight cut optional Tips.
VH longshots... i like em alot. removable baffles. good deep sound, sounds kinda old school. nice thing about the long shots is you dont have the sound right next to you, back a little ways. youtube is great place to hear the sounds. i will have a pic. of my bike up soon with the pipes and the new bars and cables.
