I saw another thread about brighter head lights and I thought I'd throw this out if any one's interested. The aux lights have a 27watt bulb in them. At your auto store you can get 35w and 50w. I live outside a town in Alberta and there are lots of Elk, Deer the odd Moose and other critters you don't want to meet in the evening on the way home. I put the 50w in my aux lights and the differance is like night and day with them on. I didn't like the heel shift leaver and had taken it off quite a while back. What I did was take the wire off the aux light switch that makes it go off when your high beam is on and hooked an old style automotive foot high beam switch in with the toggle switch.(a few dollar switch at Canadian Tire) I mounted the foot switch on the inside of the footboard, since the heel shift lever was gone. Now I can turn them on or off with the toggle switch or my left foot.(like an old car for the guys not old enough to remember them) I turn them off with my foot well before the high beam because they are so bright so I don't irk oncoming traffic. I aimed them slightly out to the ditch so I can see whats out there. A riding partner with an Ultra liked the idea and put them in his and a friend with a RK is going to change his. They still have there heel shift so they are still factory wired though. They sure light up the night and makes me more comfortable when I have to ride in it.
If money is no object you can go a step brighter with this wesite below. What is the bulb number for the stock aux lights? (example H-4 , H-7) http://76.162.149.2/gpage28.html

I couldn't see a bulb number on the old bulbs so I looked on the GE site. From what I can make out the stock bulb no. is 27W, PGJ13 881/BP. The others are 38W(not 35 as I said) PGJ13 894/BP, and 50W PGJ13 886/BP. So far I haven't had any moisture problems with the foot switch, and I have been out in rain like no one wants to be in, isn't fun Also I wash it at the truck wash, lots of pressure and hose every where and no problems yet. Actually I hadn't thought of it but touch wood I hope there never is any.
I didn't try to win any beauty contest with mine. I have some PIAA 910's with 85 watt bulbs. no issues and aimed low enough not to blind oncoming traffic and really light up the road.
85w must light up the world I thought the 50w were bright.
When I get back from "vacation" I'll take some on/off photo's. I've been behind LEO's and no issues after 20K miles. 35watts aimed improperly pi$$es off more drivers than brighter lightes properly aimed.
