Hey guys wonder if anyone out there can help me out with a wheel question. I was able to pick up a hell of a deal on eBay on a Genuine Harley Blade rear wheel. The wheel is part number 40814-08 and the Harley website says it fits a 08 FLSTN (Deluxe) and later and I have an 05. Does anyone know what I would have to do to get it to fit on my 05?? Is it just a wheel bearing and spacer change??? Or is it more involved?? Or better yet is it even possible?
I got digging into it a little and know that the 05 have a ž" dia. axle and the 08 and later were changed to a 25mm. So Im thinking I just have to change the bearings and spacers but wanted to petition the experts here to get a confirmation.
I think I remember reading that the front changed first in the 06 then in 08 the rear went to the larger axle bearings.
All should have to do is pick up a new set of bearings and pull the old from the wheel you bought. An Indy should be able to do it for you pretty cheap!
Again not a 100% on the year but the bearings for the 08 later are the same in the front and rear and 07 and earlier are 3/4".
