Engine stall
I have a 2002 FLSTF Fatboy that keeps stalling on me. The bike runs well for awhile then stalls. The bike will crank but will not turnover until it has been sitting for awhile ( usually the next day ), then it starts right up. Start up, ride, stall, wait a few hours, start up again-repeat! Any advice would be appreciated.
Had that problem with my cage, turned out to be the CPS. Don't know how it works on a bike but on the cage it shuts down both spark and fuel when it's not working right. And it shuts down instantly as if you turned the key off. No spit and sputtering.
Hey Mun, my advice is, plan on taking short rides and long breaks in between, this way your butt wont get sore.
. OK, just kidding.
You will have to narrow it down to either electrical or fuel related. When the bike dies, pull a plug wire and check to see if your getting spark. If you are, then it will be fuel related. Next question, is it carb or FI?

If it's a carb model it sounds like fuel starvation. Could be a clogged fuel filter in the gas tank or blocked inlet valve in the carb. How far do you get before the problem appears. Having said that ,buddy of mine had the same problem and it turned out to be a faulty ignition coil.
I had the same problem on my '98 FLSTC. It even stimied a HD tech who spent three and a half hours on it. Cleaned carb, changed coils, cleaned fuel filter, verified vent in gas cap was clear and functional. The bike would shut off with no coughing or sputtering. After sitting from five to fifteen minutes, it would start up and go. I knew it had to be heat related and after talking to an old EVO mech, he said it was the Pulser Module. I had it replaced with no further problems. The modulle is located under the cam cover on the right side near your foot (floorboard).
