Chrome Cleaning
Before washing to remove tar etc., I use brasso and a soft cloth... then wash bike with biodegradable degreaser... dry with blower and soft towels... wax paint and plastic... THEN shine chrome to a high luster with Mr Clean Magic Erasers... they work great and you can carry one with you for touch ups.
Actually 000 grade steel wool is an excellent chrome cleaner.
I use it all the time on my pipes...without any type of cleaner or polish. It removes road tar and boot marks better than anything else I've tried...and it does not scratch the chrome.
Works really well on oxidized chrome or rusty chrome too.

I did the same but found out that paper towels have some level of wood in them and I now stick with soft towels
Chrome will not shine anymore than it will when it's just good and clean. Polish can help protect it between cleanings kind of like wax on a car. Think about it...you can't tell the difference between a freshly chromed piece or a piece that is just clean. Unless it's been abused, of course. I've got alot of chrome on my bike and I wash it about once a week during prime riding season and use windex wipes or spray windex with micro fiber towels in between washings or for a quick clean up. I have used some polish and the only thing it does it bead up and add a little protection but does nothing for the shine. At least nothing I can see with my eyes.
Just my
I would be cautious with Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. The original product contained pieces of an abrasive similar to fiberglass strands in them. I would think that they could put micro-scratches in chrome.
