I just painted and pinstriped this derby and timer cover for a customer. I used a flat black.

thats a tought call, I seen some that really looks good with gloss tins, just have to kinda balance it out... Also seen a couple that were all flat and they just don't appeal to me..Seems there really is a balance of gloss, flat, and a touch of bling.... Just Me.

I went with gloss black when i bought my bones only because I think it looks cleaner with the whole bike matching. It drove me nuts that harley makes the flat bikes basically half flat and half vivid black, ie: the forks, bars, all the braces. just mho. so if you do it, do it and do it right.

Flat black for your ride - also agree with skipper469 on the forks, you don't want to look like a turd in a punch bowl!

As long as your tank and fenders are the same, you can mix and match the rest.

Don't worry about a perfect match of black - I have about 4 different shades (betwenn the power coated parts, stock and pipes) the new Lo has a combo of flat and gloss (too much if you ask me). I woul say that if you go flat don't spill gas on it! I got just a bit of over flow my tank and it dis-colored it some. Can only see it at the right angle but easy to notice as the owner. The bike came flat but I had just the tank repainted without the logo so it could be the aftermarket paint is not as tuff? Just watch that gas if you go flat!

I don't know, that flat black always looks like you primed and then ran out of money to get a paintjob. Gloss would be the way to go for me.

You already have gloss do flat. You can get a damn good paint job out of a rattle can for 10 bucks
