I don't mind loud and nasty... but that's just me.
The topic of noise was never raised...when I spoke to D&D Exhaust and T-Man they both recommended the performance baffle for my setup? Can the baffles be changed?
The baffles can be changed, but I hear it's a P.I.T.A.
The noise is only part of the deal. You're (no offense) only running a 95 inch engine. By using a performance baffle, you're going to lose all your backpressure and kill your low-end torque. My build is more cubic inches, a bigger cam, a bigger throttle body, and the same compression and heads as your build, and I'm making 116/116 with a quiet baffle. Unless you're looking for a high-rpm screamer, the quiet baffle is the one you want.
A year ago, when I talked to D&D they said the performance baffle was for a bigger engine then my 103 or a 110, so I am wondering why they would recommend it for your 95"
Tom
Yeah...I don't know what to say. When I called D&D and spoke to Leonard he asked what my engine combo was going to be. I told him a 95" motor with around 10.5:1 compression, T-Man Stage II Heads, 51mm throttle body and a T-Man 625 Cam. He said normally they recommended the performance baffle for engines with bigger cubes but considering what I had they recommended the Perfromance Baffle so my engine could breathe properly even though it was a 95" motor. I then called T-Man to discuss my engine and he asked about the pipe. I told him the D&D Fatcat and he said that it was a good pipe. He then asked what baffle are you going with and I told him Leonard recommened the performance baffle for my setup and his response was, that's the one you want. The pipe came in today so I need to get this resolved before it goes on the bike!
It's a conundrum for sure. I would point out that for your bike, the D&D website says: "OPTION: A big bore baffle for the 107 CI - 113 CI." You're nowhere near that. The consensus in the forum seems to be the quiet baffle. Let us know what you decide, and how you like it.
I am not disagreeing with you guys and was aware of all the points you have made. I didn't have a preference because I had no experience with these pipes only what I had read on here. I used this information while talking to Leonrard at D&D Exhaust and TR at T-Man Performance and as I said before both of them immediately said the Perfromance Baffle. I offered no opinion either way and ordered the pipe based on their recommendation. Leonard did mention that they normally don't recommend this baffle for a 95" but said that's what I needed for my engine to breathe properly. I remember him saying those words exactly. I offered no argument because they should know...if they had recommended the Quiet baffle I would have offered no argument with that either because...they should know. The pipe is here...I will call them both tomorrow and see what they say. I know from past experience TR doesn't like the word "forum" so we'll see.

You guys got me wondering so I talked to Leonard at D&D one more time to make sure I hadn't misunderstood. Leonard said he would never recommend a performance baffle in a 95" kit...except in a T-Man build. To quote him he said," TR can do **** no one else can do." He also went on to say there were only two builders he would speak this way about and had this amount of confidence in, TR and one other guy. I also talked to TR again (to make sure I had not misunderstood) and he said that in his past experiences there had been very little difference between the baffles in his builds and he preferred the performance baffle. So based on the conversations with the supplier of the engine components and the maker of the exhaust I'll follow their recommendations and go with the performance baffle. If my torque suffers or any other issues they both assured me they would make it right. I'll keep you guys informed as things progress.

I have been in touch with D&D about which pipe to use on a Stage II 103 build I am planning. Their recommendation was the wrapped perforated baffle. He advised that the perforated baffle performs the same whether it's wrapped or not, it is just the wrapped on is about 15 percent quieter.
D&D does make a "quiet concentric" baffle that is primarily designed for stock bikes that are just getting an exhaust update.
