Does anybody have there ipod hooked up (wired)to there bike? I have a 06 heritage and would like to ride with my Ipod . Looking for a handlebar mount and powered through the bike. I don't have a fairing or radio on my bike and really don"t want one. Just every now and then listen to some music.
I have that hookup ,i made a case for the ipod out of aluminum flashing and bent it to fit my ipod and it fits nice and tight in it .Then i got a cigarette lighter and put that on and used my 12 volt plugin on that .I am in Arizona for the winter like they say here snowbirds ,so when I get home if you haven't figured it out I can help you out .
A popular option seems to be the Pro Armor billet mount, and of course you could pair that with a hogtunes or similar setup mounted on your handlebars or (i like better) your engine guard. I posted this before but it bears repeating...stay away from the boom audio tank pouch as the magnets are worthless. Also remember if you have a hard disk based iPod it isn't gonna last mounted on your bars...flash based, your fine, hard disk, the vibration will destroy the iPod within a week.
I just installed a Kuryakyn 1421 accessory mount for my Sirius receiver today before my ride. It was great! I use earbuds with it. That way I don't have to worry about wind noise either.
Billet aluminum and made by a forum member.. It ain't cheap but it's a nice setup.. I got the one that allows you to plug your cord into it.. As for headphones, you won't hear **** with the stock setup.. You need to buy a good, in the ear set.. I use the Etymotic hf5's.. They work great on the road..

Explain "if you have a hard disk based iPod it isn't gonna last mounted on your bars...flash based, your fine, hard disk, the vibration will destroy the iPod within a week." Just bought new ipod nano am I screwed? Going to google Pro Armor billet mount.
the ipod original uses something lile a computer hard drive with a disk for memory.. The nano, touch and shuffle use the flash drive.. With the disk your songs will be skipping as if you had a cd strapped to the handle bars..

Yup...iPod classic models (the ones that hold 80 plus gigs now) are HD based. all that vibration on a hard disk will kill it fast and usually for good. I just keep my iPhone in my pocket set to shuffle my ride playlist and user some Shure noise canceling in ear buds.
