Default '10 Fatboy Best Detachable windshild?

I was totally against getting a windshield for my new Fatty. However, this winter and interstate speeds has changed my mind.

My setup is a 2010 Fatboy with single stock headlamp and turn signals.

In your opinion, who makes the best detachable windshield for Fattys, keep in mind I will need all the hardware as well?

I went with the HD quick detach. I started out with the tall, but soon realized that was a mistake. I changed to the low profile lightly smoked and it is WAY better. It looks better and believe it or not has less buffeting. I have my signals on the lower windshield bolt.

+1 on the h.d. model. same as av8or, replaced with the lower profile/light smoke after a few years. you can get just the replacement shield and re-use your mounting hardware. steve

Okay guys.. the lower profile HD is better in your opinions. How tall is the lower, inches? Buffering problems? how tall are you?

How about third party manufacturers? I like the cleirview shields but they don't supply the shield mounting or detachable hardware.

Can shield mounting and detachable hardware be purchased seperatly; any third party vendors selling this stuff?

I too went with the HD, except I got the king shield and had 3 1/2" trimmed off the top.

Have the hd tall quick detach, bought used for 1/4 cost of new - in case youre on a budget. At 6'1" it is perfect. I look over it and no buffeting. I also have Heritage bars which are a couple inches taller then fb bars. Installing apes soon so again, the taller shield is the right one for me.

most are measured from the headlight hole to the top. mine is 19". stock is 21" i believe. no buffeting problems. im 5' 10". j&p cycle carries "memphis shades" replacement windshiels. several different colors/heights. direct replacement for oem hardware. the factory quick disconnect set-up is a nice design. as far as getting just the harware seperate, im sure a GOOD parts guy can get all the pieces. steve

I went with the HD Nostalgic windshield as part of the essentials kit which also included the lugage rack and passenger backrest. Have no regrets when on the highway, or in the colder temps.

The Harley parts are engineered for our bikes and I think they are the best. I have the HD King Size and love it. Comes with all the hardware, easy to mount and remove. No buffeting! Look for a good used one on Ebay or Craigslist.

The best looking one out there is the CVO softie convertable shield. You seen that thing? More like a big fly shield. I like it. I called the dealer and they don't want anyone without the CVO to get one. Over a grand!
