Default Dash Panel Question

Hello! I've tried searching for over 4 hours on this and other forums and the internet in general and can't find an answer to this question:

Does the dash panel for a 2000 Softail (HD Part#71273-00) fit properly on a 2000 Wide Glide (HD Part#71246-99)?

I know the easy answer is 'no' because they're different part numbers...but I've found that there are usually several part numbers that will fit in multiple applications. I just can't find information on this particular interchange. There are very few WG-specific dashes out there...LOTS of Softail ones. They are seemingly identical...but there's gotta be a difference.

Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks.

You might check an aftermarket catalog and see if any of their custom dashes are interchangable between those two tanks,if so I'd think the HD dashes are too.

Thanks for the idea. I've checked V-Twin and Dennis Kirk. There's gotta be some sort of difference because they do list the Softail and WG dashes as being different. It must be VERY slight because they look identical in every pic I've seen.

Does anyone out there know what the difference is? I thought a 2000 Softail and a 2000 WG had the same tank...

I found out that the tanks are, in fact, different in where the mounting tabs are. If the curvature of the tanks are the same, the Softail console MIGHT fit. I'm purchasing a used Softail console to see what exactly the difference is. I'll post up when I figure it out.

Wouldn't everything depend on the fatbob tank? If your wideglide has the fb tank then the softail console should mount up.
