Thanks everybody for the responses. I have no idea what is "normal" if there is one. Just needed validation on what I was seeing and from all the responses I am on the ballpark. It has cooled alot since the SERT but I have no idea what pre-SERT temps were.

robp2006,
The only advantage I see to havin a temp guage is you can always see how hot its running an turn it off if it gets too hot[sm=bounceybounce.gif].

210 - 220 hot southern days - some limited speed riding - usually try to find the open roads though vice the traffic laden main routes... it's all about the ride, funny thing when I am in the car I am usually trying to get somewhere... going same place on the bike becomes an adventure, take the road less travelled.

I just had a 97", heads, cams, springs, rocker upgrade. My mechanic (or wrench... I've got to get used to this terminology) told me that the tight tolerances of the new motor were going to heat things up quite a bit. So we also installed a fatter oil pump and oil cooler. I installed a digital thermo cap and it seems to run around 200 (with natural oil - he said NO synthetic until 5k miles). I guess that cooler is doing it's job.
