Very nice WARG, in fact I'd like to copy your idea.
Those gas cap covers -don't they come with an adhesive backing? I've got the 'Flames' version on my gas cap and once applied, is very difficult to remove.

They do come with an adhesive backing. I wonder if i could just use that to affix it to the horn cover. Or JB Weld. I could JB Weld some thread to the back, etc, but would be much easier just to glue the damn thing.
Lots of great ideas here. Hard to choose. Thanks to all who
have offered suggestions. Warg's cover is super nice if I were not
mechancially challenged. Am going to take the idea to a friend and see
if he thinks he can tackle. Again thanks to all.
J & P cycles offers quite a few different options as far as different horn covers go, defly worth looking into if you are looking more for something to buy rather than build!!

I think the reason warg used a fastener is because the medallions have a convex shape to mate with a gas cap and you wouldn't get enough contact area with the adhesive back on the flat surface of the horn cover. Unless the horn cover is convex as well, but I think that area is flat.
Yep, I'm seeing that. I just bought the parts today at the dealer - got the black and red Harley star medallion.
Whats the best way to find the *exact* center of that circle on the air cover so I can drill the hole?
I guess I'll just buy a short piece of thread stock, hack 1 end off and JB Weld the hacked off end to the medallion so I have the 'unhacked' threads to put the nut on, ya?
