I use Bel Ray for the trans and no wine or clank and I can find neutral. I use Motor Factory® Primary Case Lube in the primary. because Amsoil has gone up so much I just switched to Mobil 1 for vtwin and it works as good. I have 47,000 miles in about 2 years and it runs great and no debris in the oil changes.

damn, i am running syn3 in all three holes. bike is still under warranty, so i have been letting the dealership do the fluid changes. if i wanted to change just the trans fluid myself i can't imagine that affecting my warranty, right?

I run the redline shock proof oil and I really couldnt tell much of a difference. I have never heard a cold harley not clunk when you first put it into gear. My tranny still wines in 5th with the redline oil.

If your dealer is putting syn3 in all three holes I would quit going to him. Harley sent out a service bulletin to their dealers a few years ago telling them NOT to use the syn3 in the tranny and primary anymore. It seems a lot of dealers don't read their bulletins from mother. The Screaming Eagle models don't have syn3 in all three holes from the factory anymore.

mine does not clunk any more and i can find neutral better also. i tried clutch adjustment but that does not seem to change it but it is is out of adjustment i guess it can cause it. i changed the chain oil also at the same time. i use what harley used before they went to their own brand and got it from the cheapest bidder. Adjust the clutch on the cable a little maybe, and run Redline Shockproof heavy. The only way for me. It is a Harley which means it will never shift like a Japanese bike.

It's a Harley. They clunk to show they are working right. It's in the manual - "Ensure that transmission clunks when selecting 1st gear from neutral after cold start." You can look it up.
