I put a set of long shots on my 05 hertiage , when I took the old pipes off it had no gasket but the V&H pipes call for one . I don't see how agasket will seat with the flandge
congrats on the new ride and welcome to the madness.
you'll get plenty of different ideas and suggestions... running from slip-ons to full pipes. weed through them and get what you think will look the best for your bike.
Do a search. I've seen people talk about drilling holes in the stock mufflers to get more sound to come out, but I don't know off hand where you're supposed to drill the holes so I don't want to give you wrong information.
I believe the baffles are welded into the pipe on the newer bikes. One idea would be to grind the weld off the inside of the pipe to remove the baffles. Then you could cut the baffles in half, weld them back together and then reinstall them inside the pipe. Two problems with that are, try grinding the baffles out without discoloring the chrome. Also the bike may or may not run as good because you would be reducing the back pressure. You would probably be better served either changing the pipes to new which is easy or to get slip on mufflers which is extremely easy. Either way I agree the stock pipes are way too quiet. Good luck.
