Default 06 Night Train Exhaust install help & Jet Kit

Hi, I have an 06 night train i'm looking to put V&H Big Radius 2 into 2 pipes on. I was wondering if the bike has to be jetted differently or if I can just bolt the new pipes on? Also if it does have to be set differently would i need to buy a jet kit? Is this something that it's better to have a dealership do? I am not experienced with engine work and am new to this. Thanks!

Yeah the bike needs to have a super tunner and they need to run a dyno. If you have not worked on your engine before I would take it to a dealership.

Yes. If you aren't comfortable with working on bikes you should let a dealer or Independent bike shop do the work for you.

Jetting implies you are running a carb and you may be since the last year of carbs on HD's was 06.

If we lived near each other I could show you how to do it. It's not really difficult to change out pipes or to change jets if needed.

EFI is another ball game though and many choose to let a shop handle that. Generally a shop with a dyno to dial in whatever tuner you and the shop decides to install on the bike.

Also you will want to change the air filter, if it's still stock, to something more free flowing. Doing all this is considered a Stage 1 upgrade. Total cost is between $1k and $2k.

Finding a good shop who won't rip you off and will consistently do a good job can be the hard part. Best of luck to you and your project.

If your bike is carbed you rejet. If you have an EFI bike you will need a fuel management system. Which is it before we proceed? Rejetting is actually rather simple on a bike with a single carb.

All you need is a tuning module like a Power Commander, have it mapped, and plug it in.

I just had my 07 Night Train done (96 CI), and I ended gaining about 10lbs/ torque to the rear wheel, but even with the older engine you should still gain some torque. Also if it is EFI you will need a new air cleaner, i think the heavy breather looks badass!

Is a power commander the same as a super tuner?
