Default V&H Bigshot staggards

Hi, Will the earlier model bigshot staggard exhaust fit the later models softails? I purchased a set of the early model (with out the O2 bungs) and can't get them to line up on an 09 ST deluxe. The head pipes appear to be off by approximately 1/4" @ the heads. Does anybody have a set of instructions for the installation of these pipes? I would appreciate it if you could e-mail them to me if you have them. That could greatly help me. I ask for an e-mail because sometimes my computer or server won't load this site for days and I don't want anyone to think I am snubbing them. My e-mail is Sycho01@aol.com.
Thanks,
John

Check fitment on the V&H web page. If '09 is listed separate from '06 then they won't fit. (years used as example only)

Per the V & H site, 86 -06 is one part # and 07 and later is another so they probably wont fit

Call VH. Spoke with them last year when I sold mine and they told me the only diff was 02 bungs. Could it be yours are bent? 06 heads are the same as 07+ heads, so the distance should be the same? Just a thought...

I spoke with the tech at V&h and he said the only difference was the O2 bungs. I have spent 3+ hrs trying to get them to even come close to matching the exhaust ports. Off by 1/4". They were purchased used. I woiuld think that it would be hard to bend the pipes. I guess they could have been bad from new. The only thing that gets me is that they show used. I wonder how they were installed? Not that I would do a jig rig on my bike.
Thanks, John

I had a set on my old bike, took them off to swap out my clutch cable. Went to put em back on and they were not lined up, just put in the front pipe and pull the pipe to line up the rear and put it in the exhaust port. Should work for you.

Did you pull the pipe 1/4"? I've tried to pull the pipe. No luck. I don't want to pry against the rear cyl. head fins. Maybe if it was a 1/16thor a even an 1/8" I might try it. 1/4' is a long way to pry a welded pipe.

i had the same issue on pipes made for my bike. i removed the heat-shield on the front pipe and slid the flange down and put in the rear one first and then stretched the front one past the fins. the fins are smaller on the front.

Just wanted to update you for all the advise you have given. I went over to North Shore Cycles in New Hyde Park,LI and spoke to three experienced mechanics about these pipes and they all agreed that when it comes to V&H pipes they will bolt right up unless you have the wrong fitment. These men are very knowledgable and also very talented. My thought is that I most likely received a softail bracket with pipes for a Dyna model. As such, I purchased the right pipes. Looking foward t o putting this to issue to rest.
Thanks again,
John

The pipes in question were bought from me.. Off of my 2000 Deuce. I did not want to hijack the thread, as I too wanted to see the responses. There is no way they are the wrong fitment, they came off of a Softail. I believe the so called experts, are not...
B eing as these are welded 2 into 2 with a crossover. It is highly possible that with different tolerances, from different mfgs, that the fitment may be a bit off. Also.... being as a 1 piece set up it will have to be put on and aligned all on one shot, and have to be lined up exactly.

Also, Just for conformation, I have emailed The support at V&H... to ask if there is anyway a Dyna set up could fit a softail at all, or even be somehow misidentified.

As I have stated to John, I would have no reason to sell him pipes for a dyna if they fit a softail... I would have just sold them as dyna pipers, if that was what I had....

I hope to get this matter resolved.
I will post my response from v&h as soon As i get.. which I am assuming at this point will be monday...

here are the pics i used for reference also...

No one on here knows me from Adam.....
I stand by my integrity, and hate to have it come into question. I hope to get this issue resolved.. for both of us....
I did not misrepresent the items.. gave full disclosure, conditions, issues and quality....

It seems that most of the responses here have had to deal with a little bit of elbow grease to mount pipes.....
