I've decided on a Red Hot Sunglo 2010 Heritage Softail Classic. How much should I expect to pay for this bike? It's my first Harley and I'm suffering from information overload when it comes to list price, invoice price, ready to sell price, etc.
I don't want to get taken, nor do I want to make an unfair offer to the dealer.
Check out a few dealers and get some out the door prices, with the way things are.
Some are willing to deal with ya, I have seem some damn good deals out there on both new and used. Remember.....if they really want or need to sale a bike, they'll work with ya. I know back when I bought my bike I shopped around and it saved me around $2400.
Good luck and grab ya a hog!
You have to be stiff with them. If thay want the sale thay want turn down a decent offer. I got 1500 hundred off mine after thay said thay couldnt go ANY lower.
Just beware of the dealers that will not give you a straight answer on prices and extra charges (set-up, freight, etc.). I had to walk out of a couple of dealers before I found one that wasn't playing games. If they ask for your drivers license just to talk to you...beware.
My wife bought her Heritage in November (also Red Hot Sunglo) and I THINK it was about $17,500. There are better deals to be had but she was trading in a Sportster on the Ride Free For A Year program and we were pretty happy. Gorgeous bike!

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
Take the MSRP add the freight and no more than $300 for a dealer fee/set-up. Add that together and take 11.5% off that. Those are prices that i got when looking new but decided to go used, too many deals out there on used bikes.
I paid MSRP, no freight or setup, etc.! Got a 20% discount on parts and labor for extras! I think I could have done better but I'm OK with the deal! One dealer for awhile was paying the sale tax as well; now that would be a great deal!!
I am also looking at 2010 HC with the Custom Color option, smooth wheel option and security option. The dealer has quoted me MSRP for the bike and options PLUS TTL. What is the best starting point?
Personally I would not buy new as there is a LOT of bikes out there for a great deal less than at the dealer. I bought my 09 fatboy that was 6 months old for $6k less than the dealer (no BS) just take your time and you will find the bike you want/need
If you must have the bike at the dealer I would get a few quotes "out the door pricing" and go from there, also ask for a discount of parts & labour.
good luck with the hunt
