Dude..... Windvest!!! If you want low profile with no mounting hardware left behind this is the way to go. Ebay is where I got mine. I have the same as Denyo. Windvest!! I rode all the way to FL from MD and it saved my *** on rt 95 doin anywhere between 70-100.
Not to confuse the issue any more, but what about some of the low profile shields from National Cycle such as the "Street Shield" or the "Deflector", does anyone have experience with either of these?
Im 56 and have the MS Del Rio shield on my FXST set to just below my nose. I went with the feathered black to match my bike. Personally I had trouble with under the shield helmet buffeting at speeds above 55mph to the point my head and sun glasses rattled so bad I couldnt see a frickn thing. I tried every possible height and angle position with the shield, including removing my helmet visor and nothing would work. So even though I dont like the looks of the MS lowers, I bought the lowers. Now I can do 80 mph all day long and not be beat to death when I reach my destination. I can remove the shield and lowers in one minute and put them back on in about 2, which Ive done many times. The hardware is pretty good. Ive had my shield about 3.5 years and its holding up nicely. Would I buy another Del Rio, yup!
I'm a big fan of the windvest. However, I talked a buddy into buying one for his Street Bob, and he hated it. I think it's in a ditch somewhere in western Canada. He's also running 20" ape hangers. I don't think any windshield is going to help in that case.
