heal shifter wtf?

Default heal shifter wtf?
I grew up on dirt bikes, had a couple of crotch rockets in my twenties. finally got a Harley a month ago. LOve the bike, but I don't get the heal shifter. Does anybody really use it? I tried a couple times and its just not natural! Is it just a styling thing from the old days when you had to stomp on it to shift? I don't see a use for it. anybody explain it?

that was the second thing to go after the reflectors... they sell a kit, pretty cheap, to loose the heal shifter and keep a clean look.

Remove that thing. Takes up useful foot space.

yep! the heel shifter went into the recycle bin as soon as the bike hit the garage.

Can you point me to this kit? My heal shifter is removed but i have a splined shaft that sticks out and f*#ks up my shoe.

I guess im one of those old guys. i like it and have it on my bike. ive heard back and fourth about this and that when it comes to it. nice thing about a Harley the combination's are endless. whatever you like, make it your.

Didn't like it when I first got the bike, now it would take me a bit to get used to using only the toe. I've grown to really like it.
