I use the Screamin eagle part # 29773-02C and its not given me any troubles. http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...7&default=none
Of course you will have to get a cover for it like part # 29138-91 or similar.
Some of the first series of Screamin eagle filters did come apart, but that has been fixed by Harley, So all are good now.

I am kind of partial to the PM filters now.

K&N here after I ditched the SE filter that was on the bike when I bought it.

K&N is well known reliable brand but regading heavy breather i love that SE black eagle sock. Do you think it would fit also K&N ?

there is also the forcewinder,probably cheaper!! they use k&n filters i think?

The SE elements are paper I believe...in theory they are washable too....I had one and rode in rain with no issues but always knew it was about to have one. The K&N is mesh and is repeatably washable...hose from inside out, a little detergent, rinse in to out...re-oil lightly and ride. Price is essentially the same...IMHO no comparison in quality. John
