Default Finding neutral

Hello all, I own an 06 deluxe which is my first Harley. I have been riding sportbikes until now and I have a hard time finding neutral, is it just me or is it a Harley transmisson thing. By the way I love my bike and it grows everytime I ride her, I only have 250 miles on her and cant wait to get on her again.

Give it a little break in time and if its still real bad go to dealer.....you should only need neutral one time a day when u put her away....lol

I had a hard time at first but I started to get use to that gentle touch to the heel shifter.

You definetly need some break in time. You should notice a difference for sure after your 1,000 mile service. Even the clunk will get a little better.

I've got 1,500 miles on my '06 Heritage and it is a lot easier finding neutral than it was when I first got it. Definitely give it some time to break in. It will get better.

Try rapping on the throttle a little right as you try to shift into neutral. This gets everything vibrating and helps prevent things from binding up as you try to shift into neutral. I do this at long lights and it really makes finding neutral easier.

Also make sure you use the proper amount of fluid in your primary if you change your own oil. Over filling the primary can make it harder to find neutral.

I just bought my first Harley on the 4th of July. I've owned 5 japanese bikes before. I love my new Springer! I've got 1180 miles on it now. Yea, neutral is tricky to find. It seems easier to get into while rolling to a stop. Otherwise, I end up shifting to 2nd, back down to first and then lift up into neutral. I will have to try the 'rapping the throttle' trick too.
