You could probably do better private party and I am sure if you are patient you can find one that already has exhaust and all that other stuff done to it.
Paid only a couple hundred more than that two years ago for my 06. It had 1,800 miles, bss pipes, stage 1, ac, bags, some chrome goodies, couple months of warranty left... but that was a great deal two years ago. I think its a good price if you dont get jacked on tax and license fees. Shield, bags, aux lights, crash bar are worth $1500+ retail.
+1 - I would say 11-11.5K. Those extra items are nice to have (especially the bags), but not necessarily items to justify $12,200.
Check your local Craiglist and E-bay for comparsion. I recently seen an 08' Fatboy in Sunglow Red ($800.00) less miles and accessories (including V& H long shots) sell for just slightly more.

I've been looking for several weeks now. Cheapest I've found is a 2006 with 24,000 miles for $10,500. It's also carb, not EFI. I'm bouncing between these two at the moment. Looking to buy next week.

Offer 10.5k on the 06. You may be surprised. They may come back with 11k and that to me would be a good deal, maybe even 11.5k They probably paid 10k for it
