I went for my NYS inspection at my dealer, and the service writer came to me and said my front tire wont pass. He pointed out that I had what felt to my fingers as slight cupping. The front has 10,700 miles on it. I had to replace the rear tire 1 year ago due to a nail. I now have 6500 miles on it, and he said that may not pass either. Of course I felt a little dumbfounded. The tread depth on both is 2/32 in., a tad more in the front. After reading all these posts about tire life, I decided to call Dunlop. New, the front tread depth is 6/32 and the rear is 8/32. I asked about the OVERALL average mileage to expect from the 407 series and he said 4000-8000 miles. Did that make me feel any better, NO. Just thought I would share this with the forum.
I got almost 10,000 on my tires I just replaced them and always ck the air press everytime I ride. 2 up they wear faster. Just normal wear, 6-10k anymore is a bonus
I almost always ride 2 up and replace 1 tire every year. I do the front one year and the back the next. To me tires are cheap compared to most of the stuff on the bike, and the biggest thing keeping you from kissing the pavement. Ride safe.
i get about 15k on the front and 8k on the rear depending on tire brand and air pressure.
stock rear dunlop gets me 10k, metzler got me 4700, roadsmart got me 6k, on the front metzler got me 16k, dunlop 15k, now using avon and 8k and about half gone but retains its shape. the dunlop and metzler both cupped just at the end. i get the bike inspected when i have new tires. i ride about 20k a year.
Bike at dealer now replacing both F&R tires and braked. Front tire looks ok but with 30% off tires I did both. (15,500 mi on the originals). With what I have been reading on this Forum about tire life, I didn't want to press it any longer.

How many miles did you get out of the 200/50/17 tire
