Fuel in the crankcase?!?!
Let me start by saying I forgot or neglected to turn off the fuel valve before storing my bike over the winter. Every 3 or 4 weeks I would go out and start it with no problems. It has been about 6 weeks since I last started the bike. I was preparing to change the oil so I start it up and let it run, after about 2 minutes it begins to run poorly. I shut off the choke and it continued until the bike shut off. Gas was pouring out of the air filter. I removed the carb and found a dry rotted vac cap. I replaced the cap, reinstall the carb. When I checked the oil it was full of fuel. I guessed that it had created a vaccum with the cap being rotten and filled the crankcase. So I change the oil fire it up it runs for a few minutes and shuts off. Check the fresh oil change and low and behold......gas again. What in the world could cause this? Thanks in advance for any guidance.
