Anybody out there remove the center console off a FI motor and install a side mount ignition tumbler? If so any nightmares? Or is there something I should know or if I might need a software download?
I got rid of my console and moved the ignition to the side. Was pretty straight forward. I just used a standard 3 wire keyed switch. Mine is a 2002 FLSTFI. It's basically just lengthening and re-routing the 3 factory ignition wires to where every you decide to put the new ignition. I did want to keep my neutral light and oil pressure light, so I used some mini led lights and mounted them on the back of my forks, along with my headlight (lo-off-hi) switch and air suspension switch.

I think I got my switch from J+P, but don't remember for sure. It's just a generic 3 position switch, available just about anywhere. Can't help you with the security system as I don't have one. If you're ignition tumbler has 3 wires, then I think your fine as you'd just be replacing the Harley 3 wire tumbler with an aftermarket 3 wire tumbler. I do know that Klock Werks sells ignition relocation 'kits', so they could probably address any issues withe the security.
Did you get anywhere with this? Looking to do the same, I may use what Honky did and just elminiate my security altogether. But were you able to find anything else?
