Could you mount the speakers on your highway bars close to the tank and aimed up toward the rider? Just wondering if anyone has tried it...

Just bought a J&M MHAS-2008 for my 98 Fatboy based on this review.

Had Cycle Sounds on my Vrod - Poor output + distortion.

Had Hogtunes on my Ultra. OK - but it took two amps and eight speakers.

Looking for loud and NO DISTORTION.

Will post opinions later after the install.

Thanks. Dave H. Appleton 9/3/2012

Default Do you still like your J&M MHAS-2008 speakers?

I have a 2006 FLHRCI and I am looking at different options for audio. I was wondering if you still like the speakers?

Thanks

I have them on my Heritage, they sound as good as you're gonna get without a fairing. No, they are not as good as my aftermarket 4 speaker Streetglide setup was, but I can hear them easy at 70MPH and I'm usually going slower these days!

So it is basic B**** wiring, just to test them out I hooked them up straight to the battery and grounded it to the bike and I get no love from the speakers?

  1. The speakers sound good with plenty of volume.
  2. If you are an audiophile you need to get a full fairing. (Or don't listen to music on a bike!)
  3. Easy to install! (1 to 2 hours and no trips to the emergency room!)
  4. The installed speakers don't detract from the bike's looks.
  5. Molly Hatchet's "Beatin the Odds" (or Uriah Heap's "Easy Living" or, or...) sounds awesome on a back road at 60 mph with the wind in your face!
I will post some pictures when the weather gets better.... (Northern Ohio sucks.....)

Thanks!!! I was looking for a good review like this!

OK so do you have any other sage advice on the subject of handlebar speakers since this is crap to you? I am open to any good info on the subject.
