hello, I am going to put the vance and hines short shots on my 2006 injected night train. Can anyone tell me what to use for a power commander and an air cleaner that would work well together and work well with the pipes. Would the dynojet power commander III work good for this? I am planning on ordering the parts myself because it is way cheaper, but having the a hd dealership install everything as i know nothing about fuel injection and how to set it. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Call the guys at Fuel Moto USA they can hook you up with advice for everything you need. Also install it yourself and sav even more money. None of those are very hard to install at all and as far as I know there is nothing to set. Fuel Moto USA sends it set for your bike according to what you are going to put on it.
+1 for FuelMoto. They have a nice Stage 1 kit and will send you a Power Commander (III or V or their own labelled Power Commander) pre-programmed for your setup. Installation is cake, should take about an hour or so if you take your time.
After the install if its possible, id look up an indy shop that can dyno and dial in your programmer to your bike. The "cookie cutter" preset tunes work but are not 100% as every bike is different. My last bike i had dyno'd n tuned made a world of difference compared to the preset.
do it yourself, its cake. I have the pc3 and love it. Big difference before and after. From there, look at an HD heavy breather like AVI ^ has on his train, or an Arlen Ness Big Sucker like I have.
Just do it yourself ... I found cheap power commander III on this forum ... got my V&h pipes and stage 1 arlene ness big sucker kit from Dr. VTwin ...a very good price and super fast shipping... best thing ever... I took out my old pipes and air filter the day I placed my order and 2 days later I had my new pipes and air cleaner... took me under 3 hrs to put everything back in .. and this is first time I have done this but I have to agree ... do it yourself and save more money..Call Dr. VTwin you cant beat the price and best people to work with period.
You could also use the Vance Hines Fuel Pak. Check out the Vance Hines web site. I have one for a 2006 that is just sitting on the shelf and would let go cheap if you are interested.
Here's an option for you. If you haven't already ordered your shortshorts, buy them with O2 bungs and plugs. Buy your retrofit PCV from fuel moto with your modifications programmed in. Install it and ride. Anytime later you can buy the autotune module with O2 sensors and interface them to your PCV. Here's a pic of A PCV along with some other stuff under the seat of my 05 standard. This all fits under a Danny Gray butt crack solo without mashing any wires or connectors.
thanks alot guys. i'm going to pick up a power package from fuel moto and put it on myself, then get the dealership to dyno and tune it. seems like the easiest and cheapest way. the power commanders from fuel moto are pre set to match your bike pipes and cleaner?
