Hi All, I like the factory king and queen seat on my '08 FXSTC. Very comfortable and not an issue when just pleasure riding. It's on the long hauls that some back support would be helpful. The question I have is has anyone seen a removeable drivers back rest that would mount in the split between the seats? The only one I've been able to find is the external mount and I just dont like to look of it.
Long time reader, first time poster. Thanks for the help.
Yea what Geoff said the FXSTC seat is a one piece unit. You would need to modify the seat and have a custom piece made to still keep it. Other than replacing it with a new seat and adding a different back rest for your passenger.
Same here, only seen bolt-ons.
I do think that if the seat pan was stiffened a person could mount a bracket onto the pan with an attachment that went up between the front and rear sections of the seat to slide a backrest into. You might be able to spread the load between both parts(front seat and passenger pillion) of the pan and not have to strengthen the existing pan.
It might also be possible to mount a backrest support directly to the rear fender, there's a hole there already.
I've been looking at ways to do this for awhile.
