I purchased my wife a Christmas present again this year; yes, a 2010 Deluxe, which SHE picked out. We also traded in her Sporty. Well ... the Deluxe does NOT have security, and now she wants it. I've search the forum, and no, I don't have the Softail service manual ... yet. Is this something I can easily install myself?
I'm moderately handy when it comes to working on our HD's. I would appreciate your thoughts.
Search the forums for a thread on this topic. You can buy a siren module that you add to your existing security system, from Circuit City I believe. Good luck.
If you dont have the system it is an easy install, plug and play. HD sells them with or with out the sirien. Go the HD site and look under security
H-DŽ Smart Security System
The H-DŽ Smart Security System offers automatic self-arming and hands-free disarming for vehicle electronic security functions. The Hands Free Fob communicates directly on its own unique and individualized frequency with the Hands Free Security Module and Antenna. Attach the Hands Free Fob to your vehicle ignition key ring. As you upright your vehicle or switch the ignition on, the Fob will communicate the Security System "disarm" command allowing you to start your vehicle. After riding your vehicle, park and switch the ignition off with your key. Within 5 seconds the Security System will automatically self-arm, disabling your vehicle starter, ignition and electronic fuel injection (EFI). The rider may also disarm the system by keying a previously entered personal code on the turn signal switches. A flashing status indicator informs the rider that the Smart Security System is armed or disarmed. This system allows configuration to include the Transport Mode or Extended Storage Mode.

Yup, plug and play. They're on Ebay all the time for about half MSRP. The only thing that could be frustrating is the programming, but if you follow the instructions to a T, you'll be okay.
