Default Anyone running a Thunderheader without the heat shields?

Any advice? Dr V Twin has me a good price on the pipe....anyone with pics if you have this without the heat shields on your rig?

A friend had a black TH without the heat shields. It was find until he wore his rain pants and they melted all over it. You could also wrap it if it seems to hot after you put it on. If it were me I'd get the pipe and run it without the shield for a bit to see how it was. Then add them if needed.

I think you are going to have either use heat shields or wrap the Thunderheader...
I can smell the melting boot soles from here...

Well, maybe I will go back with plan one....Black V and H Short shots staggered...

I ran the black ceramic TH's (which supposedly run cooler) without shields for a while. During the winter it was nice but when it started to get warm out..All I could say was "Ouch!!"

Ended up getting the shields and it made it normal again..

I am . I sent it to JetHot coatings and had it coated in "Sterling" (color , sot real sterling) . I rode ten miles , and I now have a small spot of my boot on the pipe .
